Polymer Clay Figure Tutorial 1 by elyobkram Polymer Clay Figure Tutorial 1 by elyobkram
Hi, I Was Asked How I Made These Polymer Clay Figures After I Added Some Pics Of Eran The First One I Made So This Time I Took Plenty Of Photos As I Went. I Hope There Helpful Because I Found Other Tutorials Here & On "OOAKGuild.com"
Extremely Helpful Before I Made The First Figure . But By Far The Best Way To Learn Is To Just Get Your Hands Dirty & Do It. Buy Some Polymer Clay (I Use Super Sculpey) & Florists Wire & Just Play With It. I've Used Marbles For Eyes. Glued Wire Base With Epoxy Resin Just To Hold The Shape Better & Give Something To Work On.

Hmm I've made a couple figurines out of scupley and i think I worked too big with not enough support...the first just broke and the second WAS fine, but, i didnt bake it throughly sooo it's a little dead. So, by what you said...you can use pretty much anything as a base as long as it's pretty solid? What is the epoxy that you used? can you just buy it in a tube? o.o

Hi, There Is A Type You Can Make At Home But It's Different , I Got My Polymer Clay Off EBay & The Local Craft Store ... EBay Was Cheaper If You Buy It In Bulk ... Cheers Mark

Polymer clay is a sculptable material based on the polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It usually contains no clay minerals, and is only called "clay" because its texture and working properties resemble those of mineral clay. It is sold in craft, hobby, and art stores, and is used by artists, hobbyists, and children. [link]

I'm an idiot and just starting out with polymer figures to where it would require this kind of stuff and I noticed people using paper, aluminum foil and wires. That's not dangerous at all in the oven right? I'm just paranoid of blowing my house up...T_T

Your Not An Idiot, I Had No Idea Until I Started.
No Not Dangerous At All There Only Cooked At Very Low Temperatures Anyway ... (If You Don't Make Your Figure Over An Old Aerosol Can) You Should Be Able To Use Just About Anything (Non Flammable)...
The Figures Need Some Form Of Support As The Clay Becomes Very Soft During Baking Until It Cools...
& Do Them In Layers Or Sections As It's Too Hard To Do & Handle All At Once...

& DON'T USE A MICROWAVE OVEN !!!
